Welcome to the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce

Welcome to Hillsborough and Orange County.

Whether you're moving to our area, located between the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Triangle and the Greensboro-High Point-Winston-Salem Triad, visiting our many historic sites, or moving your business here, Chamber members are open for business and at your service!

Hillsborough, North Carolina was laid out in 1754 by William Churton, where the great Indian Trading Path crossed the Eno River. Then called "Orange," the town was designed on 400 acres granted by the Honorable John Earl Granville. Hillsborough took its present name in 1766.

Much has changed in Hillsborough in the 250 years since its inception. But many things remain the same.

Hillsborough is still ideally situated, at the merger of Interstate 85 and Interstate 40, providing easy access to all points in North Carolina. The town that was once the colonial capital of North Carolina is now the county seat of Orange County. During the Revolutionary War, Hillsborough was a political and cultural center in the area and it remains so today, with interesting shops and restaurants and many activities celebrating the arts and history being held monthly.

Hillsborough is a nice place to visit, but it's an even nicer place in which to live and do business.
