Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce

4th Annual Chili and Salsa Cookoff

For several years, the people of Hillsborough clamored for a Chili cookoff. In 2008, the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce heard your cries, answered them and found it good.

Then we decided to team up with the Hillsborough Farmers Market.

And now, the Chamber has decided to kick off the growing season on the first Saturday in April (April 7) with Hillsborough’s Fourth Annual Chili and Salsa Cookoff.

It’s simple: fill out the entry form  (click entry form 2011 to download) and return it to the Chamber along with your entry fee. Then take your best chili recipe – with or without beans, with or without meat, hot or mild – and make at least 6 quarts (1.5 gallons, about the contents of a large crock pot) for sampling by the judges and the public.

Same goes for salsa, except we only need a gallon. Bring it to the big tent in the parking lot of Home Depot, next to the Hillsborough Farmers Market, at 625 Hampton Pointe Blvd, no later than 11:30 am.

More than one entry per cook IS allowed.

You must provide your own crock-pot or propane burner to keep the chili or salsa warm.

Tables and tableclothes will NOT be provided.

Each entrant is advised to DECORATE their space, as presentation will be part of the judgement criteria.

All the rules are attached to the entry form.
